Written by Jon and named by Lyndsay, Slow Burn, is a like simmering pot of stew that occasionally boils over. Based on the down-stroke guitar picking style developed by Chuck Berry and Bill Monroe, this tune pays tribute to the Beach Boys and also builds a bridge to modern punk rock guitar palm muting. Lyndsay’s gritty violin tone may remind some of Jean Luc Ponty’s dirtiest live fusion recordings, and Patrick plays in 7/4 so solidly that one might not even notice the odd time.

But in the Jon Stickley Trio, with the fiddler Lyndsay Pruett and the drummer Hunter Deacon, he also bounces around in Gypsy jazz, folk-punk and jam-band territory, tracing a fidgety continuity of style.” -The New York Times, Nate Chinen ... more
